I was coming up empty for creative ideas for this theme… so I called up my 8-year old at lunch to see what he would come up with. The above game is the result of the following conversation:

Dad: Hey bud! Its game jam time!
M: What’s the theme?
Dad: “walk on walls” … so what do you know that walks on walls?
M: Spiders!
Dad: Ok, so we have a spider walking on walls, how do we get points?
M: By eating French fries.
Dad: Spider’s like French fries?
M: who DOESN’T like French fries?
Dad: … ok, who are the bad guys?
M: Dragonflies. They eat spiders.
Dad: Really? Ok, how do you finish a level?
M: you get in a portal. Duh.
Dad: ….
M: Oh and the spider should be like Indiana Jones.
Dad: <laughing> Ok bud… we’ll need some music…
M: It should be like the Indiana Jones song, but like Mmm Tsss Mmm Tsss Mmm Tsss.
Dad: … Ok, here goes nuthin…

Ran out of Red Bull before I could animate the characters, but definitely learned a lot from my first game jam (#188) that I leveraged this time around. Enjoy the sophisticated 8-year old’s game design skills… lol.
